Formed in 1989, Cairns String Quartet is now the most highly sought after and well-respected string quartet here in Far North Queensland and are very proud of the fact that they are the most highly recommended string quartet by some of our regions top wedding and events coordinators and suppliers. Each and every performance is approached with the utmost professionalism and can be formal and dignified, or relaxed and fun.

They are proud to offer a repertoire list of well over 200 different works, ranging in musical styles from the elegance and beauty of classical music to the exciting and diverse popular genre which encompasses romantic ballads, up beat hits and smooth jazz.

SOLO VIOLINIST - Margaret Willis

Margaret has more than 30 years experience and whose qualifications include a Bachelor of Music Degree and Post Graduate Diploma (both in Performance) from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

Since returning to her hometown of Cairns in 1993, Margaret has been dedicated to her performing and teaching career. Her performances are renowned for their quality and professionalism and the exquisite sound of her beautiful German violin handmade in 1783.

She performs on a regular basis at many of the 5 star resorts and venues throughout the Cairns area as both solo violinist and as 1st violinist in the Cairns String Quartet. As well as an accomplished violinist, Margaret performs regularly as pianist / organist for local weddings and concerts, as well as being the official accompanist for the Cairns Junior Choral Society.

The elegance of the solo violin creates a wonderful atmosphere that can enhance the most romantic of occasions and creates emotions that only music can evoke.

Vocalist/Guitarist - Russell

Front Man, Lead Vocalist, Trumpet/Flugelhorn player, Guitarist, Songwriter, MC and Band Leader are all active pursuits of this versatile entertainer.

You can catch Russell fronting one of Australia’s most versatile cover bands “Tectonic” or unplugged with his acoustic guitar performing his own compositions, but he is most renowned in Northern Australia as a vibrant solo entertainer covering almost any vocal style. Whether at a special event, wedding or function, Russell’s professional-ism and dedication to the show shines through.

Russell’s career spans 20 years as a professional musi-cian, songwriter and performer. He has completed 2 solo albums of original material entitled “Simple Life” and "Survivor" and has been main artist on the "Naked Mel-ody" album (Australian Sun Records) which features the Flugelhorn. He has played on many other Australian art-ist’s albums/recordings including renowned indigenous performer “David Hudson”, Songwriter “Andy Collins”, Aria winner “Seaman Dan”, “Drewz” and "Tribe of Jubal" albums. Live bands he has formed or played in include “State Of Mind”, “Russell Harris Band”, “Hip Fidelity” and “Tectonic Big Band”.
