Tropical North Queensland (Cairns & Palm Cove)
Tropical North Queensland is the only region in Australia that boasts two World Heritage-listed natural icons—the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics Rainforest—both easily accessible on a day trip from Cairns or Palm Cove, allowing couples to turn their wedding celebration into an unforgettable tropical holiday.
Alamanda Great Barrier Reef Chapel, Palm Cove: Australia’s only purpose-built, absolute-beachfront chapel, set inside the five-star Alamanda Palm Cove by Lancemore resort. Retractable glass walls open the ceremony straight onto the Coral Sea, with the chapel accommodating up to 120 guests on the surrounding timber deck.
Hilton Blue Horizon Chapel, Cairns: A glass-walled chapel on the Cairns waterfront, set within its own reflecting pond with an infinity waterfall that flows out toward Trinity Inlet and the rainforest mountains beyond. The chapel and adjoining Hilton Cairns garden and reception spaces can accommodate up to 300 guests.
Trinity Beach Palace: A private five-bedroom beachfront estate with 130 metres of frontage. The estate and its tropical grounds are exclusively yours for the duration of your wedding; as with all Queensland beaches, the shoreline remains public, although the property’s secluded position means that it generally feels exceptionally private.
The Whitsundays, Hamilton Island
For couples who want their wedding and their honeymoon to happen on the same trip, the Whitsundays’ island resorts are hard to beat.
- Hamilton Island Weddings: the Whitsundays’ most established island wedding destination, with four ceremony settings to suit almost any style. The non-denominational All Saints Chapel seats up to 96 guests in hillside gardens overlooking Catseye Bay, complete with stained glass windows and a bell tower. Catseye Beach offers a barefoot, waterfront ceremony for up to 50 guests. One Tree Hill Pavilion has 270-degree views across the Whitsunday Islands and its own permanent bar for guests to use straight after the ceremony.
Gold Coast & Hinterland
Thirty minutes inland from the coast itself, the Gold Coast hinterland has become one of Queensland’s most sought-after luxury wedding regions.
Rivermead Estate: Arguably the Gold Coast’s grandest private wedding property: a six-bedroom homestead across 55 acres of hinterland, with a heated pool, day spa, sauna, fire pit and equestrian facilities. Weddings are offered by application only, capped at 80 guests, to keep every event intimate.
Pethers Rainforest Retreat, Mount Tamborine: An adults-only retreat set across five hectares of private rainforest, with ten individual treehouse suites (each with a couples spa and floor-to-ceiling glass) available for wedding guests. Sunshine Coast & Noosa
Noosa’s mix of national park, river and beach gives Sunshine Coast weddings a softer, more laid-back luxury than the Gold Coast’s estates.
Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort: Bordered by Lake Weyba and Noosa National Park, just three kilometres from Hastings Street. Ceremony options include The Plateau (hinterland and lake views), a lakeside spot on the banks of Lake Weyba, and The Sunset Lounge overlooking the golf course. Reception, accommodation and spa are all on-site.
Noosa Boathouse, Noosa River: A three-level floating boathouse with three waterfront wedding spaces, from the 130-guest River Room down to the intimate 32-guest Eastern Deck. A private jetty allows guests to arrive by boat directly at the venue.
